Freshmen English Toast: Jazykové klání na gymnáziu v Bohumíně!

Dne 29. ledna 2025 se v prostorách gymnázia v Bohumíně v jedné z jejích učeben rozléhaly zvuky smíchu a také špetky soutěživého ducha. Poprvé v historii školy se zde konala výjimečná akce s názvem "Freshmen English Toast", která spojila studenty z tříd 8. P, 4. A a 1. A na den plný zábavy, týmové spolupráce a anglických dovedností.

Mozky této akce byli studenti z tříd 8. P a 4. A, kteří neúnavně pracovali na přípravě řady poutavých aktivit pro nově příchozí studenty z třídy 1. A. Komunikace probíhala většinou v angličtině, což všem přineslo výzvu předvést své jazykové schopnosti.

Studenti z třídy 1. A se rozdělili do kreativních a jedinečně pojmenovaných týmů: Girls and K, Gingers, Boris' Crew, Toastíci, Žáby a Special Tým. Tyto týmy statečně bojovaly v sedmi vzrušujících soutěžích, které zahrnovaly:

1. RE-Tell: Testování jejich paměti a vypravěčských dovedností.
2. Jeopardy: Klasická vědomostní hra týkající se anglo-amerických reálií.
3. Describe and Draw: Veselá aktivita, kde studenti popisovali obrázky pro své spoluhráče, kteří je museli nakreslit.
4. What’s in the Box?: Napínavá hádací hra s tajemnými místy a známými osobnostmi.
5. Escape-the word- Game: Hra typu „Najdi chybu v textu“ typ hry, který prověřil schopnosti studentů řešit problémy.
6. A BOMB Typhoon: hra s otázkami a záhadnými znaky.
7. Video-games/Films/Series Kahoot: a nakonec velké finále: rychlý kvíz o populární kultuře.

Ve skupinovém klání nakonec zvítězil usměvavý tým "Gingers", na paty jim šlapali "Toastíci", kteří obsadili druhé místo a na 3. místě se umístili "Boris' Crew".

Ukázalo se, že studenti třídy 1. A jsou nejen vynikající týmoví hráči, ale dokáží spolupracovat i bez pomoci svých mobilních telefonů—impozantní!:-))

Doufáme, že akce nebyla ojedinělá a už se těšíme, jaké další výzvy přinese "Freshmen English Toast" příští rok!

Freshmen English Toast: The Ultimate Language Showdown at Gymnázium Fr.Živného Bohumín!

On the memorable day of January 29th, 2025, you could hear the sounds of laughter and a dash of competitive spirit in one of its classrooms. For the very first time, the school hosted an event called "Freshmen English Toast," which brought together students from 8.P, 4.A, and 1.A classes for a day full of fun, teamwork, and English skills.

The brainy masterminds behind this event were the students from 8.P and 4.A, who worked tirelessly :-) to prepare a series of engaging activities for the fresh-faced 1.A students. Communication was to be in English, challenging everyone to put their language skills to the test.

The 1.A students grouped themselves into uniquely named teams: Girls and K, Gingers, Boris' Crew, Toastíci, Žáby, and Special Team. These teams competed bravely in seven thrilling challenges, which included:

1. RE-Tell: Putting their memory and storytelling skills to the test.
2. Jeopardy: A classic game of trivia with an English twist.
3. Describe and Draw: An activity where students described pictures for their teammates to draw.
4. What’s in the Box?: An exciting guessing game with mysterious places and famous people.
5. Escape -the word- Game: “Find a mistake in the text“ kind of challenge tested their problem-solving abilities.
6. A BOMB Typhoon: A question game with surprising twists
7. Video-games/Films/Series Kahoot: And last but not least a rapid-fire quiz on popular culture.

In a nail-biting conclusion, the team "Gingers" earned the first place. Close on their heels were the "Toastíci," who claimed the second spot, and "Boris' Crew," who secured a respectable third place. The event proved that these students are not only excellent team players but also capable of working together without the aid of their mobile phones—impressive!

The "Freshmen English Toast" event was not only a celebration of English language skills but it also showed the power of collaboration and creativity. We can't wait to see what exciting challenges next year's event will bring!
